Chargers Men’s Swim & Dive Takes 4th In OEC Conference Championships
Giovanni Demuro breaks records to finish off OEC
COSTA MESA, CA - Cypress College Men's Swim & Dive competed in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) championships at Orange Coast College from Thursday, April 16th to Saturday, April 18th.
As a team, the Chargers managed to place fourth overall in the tournament with a notable performance by Giovanni Demuro who took first in the Men's 50 freestyle with a time of 21.03 seconds.
Along with Demuro taking first in the 50 freestyle, he also set a new Cypress College record for the 400 Medley Relay with a record breaking 100 backstroke that finished with a time of 54.43 seconds. The new record held by Demuro is just 0.2 seconds faster than the previous record. He then went on to break his own 100 backstroke record in the finals session with a time of 53.43 after hitting 53.86 in his prelim session.
UP NEXT: The Chargers look to compete in the 3C2A State Championships at Orange Coast College on Thursday, April 30th.
