Chargers Open OEC Action
The start of Orange Empire Conference competition brought a full weekend of racing and diving
CYPRESS, CA - Cypress College Men's Swim & Dive opened Orange Empire Conference competition with a steady, well-rounded performance, placing fourth overall at the season's first OEC meet held Thursday and Friday at Cypress and Saddleback College.
The Chargers totaled 657 points in the combined standings, finishing behind Riverside City College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College. On the men's side, Cypress accounted for 407 points, fueled by strong distance swimming, backstroke depth, and a productive showing on the diving boards.
Diving set the tone early in the week as the Chargers hosted the conference's first dive meet on campus on Thursday, February 26. Isaiah Bridgewaters led the charge in the 1-meter event, scoring 221.93 points to earn 20 team points. He followed with a strong 3-meter performance and finished the meet contributing a team-leading 43 points across three events.
In the pool, Sean Eoin Tannehill delivered one of the top performances of the meet for Cypress. The sophomore dominated the 500-yard freestyle, touching in 4:52.53 to secure 20 points for the Chargers. He also added a solid swim in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking in at 2:04.93 to bolster the team's scoring effort.
