Men's Golf finished third overall in the OEC
VENTURA, CA – The Cypress College men's golf team continues its postseason run after earning a third-place team finish at the Orange Empire Conference Championships, securing a spot in the upcoming Southern California Regional on Monday, May 4 at Olivas Links Golf Course. The event will be hosted by Ventura College.
The Chargers closed out conference play at the OEC Championships in Apple Valley, where the tournament featured a double-round format. Cypress was led by standout sophomore Ian Shahwan, who earned All-OEC honors following another steady performance. Shahwan carded rounds of 79 and 76, continuing a season in which he never shot higher than a 79.
Dino Torres paced Cypress in the conference championship round with a team-best 75, while James Luther added a second-round 78. Ethan Nash followed with a 77 in the second round, Aden Henry recorded an 89, and Teegan Cole rounded out the Chargers' scoring with an 87.
Throughout the season, Cypress consistently positioned itself among the top teams in the conference. The Chargers recorded three runner-up finishes, including back-to-back second-place results entering the OEC Championships.
Nash also delivered the team's lowest round of the year, firing an impressive 69 at El Prado Golf Course. Combined with Shahwan's consistency and a balanced lineup, Cypress enters regional play with momentum and confidence.
Now, the Chargers shift their focus to the postseason as they prepare to compete against top programs from across Southern California for a chance to advance further in the state championship journey.
