Chargers Secure Season-Best Finish at Steele Canyon
Cypress performs well at Steele Canyon.
JAMUL, CA – Cypress College men's golf turned in its strongest performance of the season on Wednesday, earning a second-place finish at the Cuyamaca-hosted event held at Steele Canyon.
The Chargers posted a team score of 300, tying for the second-lowest score of the day and finishing just behind tournament host Cuyamaca. Cypress also compiled an impressive 6-1 head-to-head record in the field, showcasing consistency across the lineup in a competitive eight-team event.
Leading the way for Cypress was Ian Shahwan, who fired a 73 to claim the top individual spot among Charger golfers and finish first overall in the tournament. Close behind, Ethan Nash delivered a strong round of 74, placing second overall and giving Cypress a powerful one-two finish at the top of the leaderboard.
Dino Torres continued the Chargers' momentum with a 76, good for third place, while James Luther added a 77 to secure fourth. Teegan Cole rounded out the team scoring with a 79, finishing fifth, and Aden Henry contributed with an 83.
With five golfers placing in the top five individually, Cypress demonstrated both depth and high-level execution throughout the round. The performance marks the team's best finish of the season and provides strong momentum as the Chargers head into the final stretch of the schedule.
