Cypress Beats Golden West In Conference Play
The Chargers defeat the Rustlers 38-0.
CYPRESS, CA - Cypress flag football (16-5, 4-2 OEC) put together a complete team performance on Thursday, taking a 38-0 victory over Golden West (6-7, 2-4 OEC).
The Chargers set the tone early, as quarterback Mia Cabral connected with Melony Bernabe for the game's opening touchdown to give Cypress a 6-0 lead. The ensuing point-after attempt was successful, extending the advantage to 7-0. Cabral continued to lead the offensive surge, adding two passing touchdowns to quickly stretch the lead to 19-0.
Cypress showcased its depth in the passing game as Maddy Banks found Alisa Kangas for another touchdown, pushing the lead to 25-0 and maintaining the Chargers' offensive momentum.
Cabral later added a rushing touchdown, followed by a successful point-after attempt on the ground, increasing the margin to 32-0.
The Chargers' defense put an exclamation point on the shutout performance when Cami Flewellen intercepted a pass on the goal line and returned it for a touchdown, sealing the 38-0 victory.
Cypress looks to carry this momentum into their next contest as they wrap up regular season conference play.
