Chargers Open Postseason Run at Citrus College for SoCal Regionals
Three-Team double-elimination run against Pasadena and Citrus College
GLENDORA, CA - Cypress College Baseball (26-14, 13-8 OEC) is set to begin postseason play this weekend as the Chargers travel to Citrus College for the 3C2A Southern California Regional, a three-team double-elimination tournament running May 1-3. Cypress will open competition against Pasadena City College on Friday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m.
The regional field includes Cypress, Pasadena City, and host Citrus College, with the tournament winner advancing to the SoCal Super Regionals scheduled for May 7-9. Super Regional host sites will be determined by the highest remaining seed, and the next round will be played in a best two-out-of-three format.
Cypress enters the postseason with confidence after defeating Pasadena City earlier this season by an 11-3 score. In that matchup, John Short powered the offense with four RBIs, Travis Curry collected three hits, and Ben Keisler added a home run. Rohan Ramos earned the win on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out five.
Offensively, Cypress has been one of the most productive lineups in the region, batting .297 as a team while hitting 41 home runs in 40 games. Justin Tillar leads the Chargers with 10 home runs, ranking third in the Orange Empire Conference. Ben Keisler and Tyler Smith are tied for fourth in the conference with eight home runs each. Keisler has also driven in 44 runs this season, good for fifth in the OEC.
On the mound, Cypress boasts one of the top pitching staffs in conference play. Rocky Palacio leads the OEC with eight wins and owns a 3.78 ERA with 51 strikeouts, fifth-most in the conference. Freshman Rohan Ramos has also delivered a breakout season, posting a 7-1 record with 50 strikeouts, ranking second in conference wins behind Palacio.
