Cypress Defeats Orange Coast in Season Series, 3-0
The Chargers sweep the Pirates in regular season competition.
CYPRESS, CA- Cypress College baseball (26-14, 13-8 OEC) closed out its regular season series against Orange Coast (19-20, 7-14 OEC) in strong fashion, taking all three games behind timely hitting and solid pitching performances.
Game 1: Cypress 10, Orange Coast 7
Cypress opened the series with a strong offensive showing, plating five runs in the first inning to set the tone early. The Chargers added insurance in the fifth and eighth innings to hold off a late Orange Coast rally.
Ty Peters led the offense with two RBIs, while Tyler Smith delivered a key three-RBI performance, including a home run. Travis Curry also contributed with an RBI and a run scored.
On the mound, Rocky Palacio delivered a dominant outing, going seven innings and allowing just one run while striking out eight to earn the win.
Game 2: Cypress 7, Orange Coast 3
Cypress secured the series victory with a balanced performance on the road. The Chargers scored in four different innings, including a two-run ninth to seal the win.
Trent Johnson paced the offense with two RBIs, while Travis Curry added two more. Ty Peters and Derek Gonzales each chipped in an RBI as Cypress totaled eight hits on the day.
Rohan Ramos turned in a quality start, tossing six innings and allowing just two runs while striking out six. The bullpen combined to limit Orange Coast over the final three innings to secure the victory.
Game 3: Cypress 13, Orange Coast 9
Cypress capped off the series with an explosive offensive performance, highlighted by a seven-run second inning that proved to be the difference.
Ben Keisler had a standout game, driving in six runs including a home run. Tyler Smith and Justin Tillar each recorded multiple hits and RBIs, while the Chargers totaled 16 hits as a team.
Despite a late push from Orange Coast, Cypress maintained control after building an early lead and used multiple arms out of the bullpen to secure the win.
