Liu, Nguyen Lead Cypress Women at Pasadena Invitational
Powered by standout swims from Jasmine Liu and Chantee Nguyen, the Chargers turned in a strong showing against top competition at the Pasadena Invitational.
MONTEREY PARK, CA - Cypress College's women's swim and dive team turned in a strong performance at the Pasadena Invitational, finishing sixth overall with 369 points in a competitive field.
The Chargers were led by standout efforts from Jasmine Liu and Chantee Nguyen, who consistently placed Cypress among the top finishers throughout the meet. Liu highlighted the weekend with a victory in the 200 individual medley (2:15.80) and also recorded a 1:08.61 in the 100 breaststroke. She finished the invitational with one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, totaling 71 points.
Nguyen added another impressive all-around performance, collecting two gold medals, one silver, and two bronze while finishing with 57 points. She also earned a runner-up finish in the 200-yard backstroke, with teammate Mia Stockwell close behind in fourth at 33.61.
In relay competition, Stockwell, Liu, Nguyen, and Ivy Olivas combined for a strong third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. Cypress also saw representation in the diving events from Joanna Cruz and Analyn Farro, adding to the team's overall depth and performance.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will host the 3C2A SoCal Dive Regionals on Friday, April 10 from 8am-10am.
