COSTA MESA, CA- The 2025-2026 season stands as one of the most historic in Cypress College women's swim and dive history, highlighted by record-breaking performances, state-level success, and conference recognition across the board.
Freshman, Chantee Nguyen put together a season for the ages, emerging as one of the top swimmers in the state. Nguyen broke a 10-year-old school record in the 200 butterfly and continued to improve it throughout the season, ultimately finishing with a time of 2:05.99 at the State Championships. She also set new school records in the 200 backstroke (2:07.48), 100 backstroke (59.03), and 400 individual medley (4:30.23), with her IM performance surpassing both the school and conference records by five seconds. Nguyen qualified for the State Championships in all three of her primary events and capped off her season as a two-time state champion, earning State Swimmer of the Year honors and recognition for the best women's individual performance in the 200 butterfly.
Jasmine Liu, who delivered a remarkable campaign rewriting the record book. Liu set a new school and meet record in the 50 breaststroke (31.09) while dominating the breaststroke events all season long. She broke the 100 breaststroke school record multiple times, ultimately lowering it to 1:06.52 before shaving off another half-second at the 3C2A State Championships. Liu also set new program marks in the 200 breaststroke (2:34.63), 200 individual medley (2:18.12), and 100 individual medley—where she made one of the most significant improvements in program history, dropping the record by 11 seconds before breaking it again at the State Championships with a time of 59.27. Liu placed second at the conference meet, qualified for the State Championships in all of her events, and earned a silver medal finish.
The Chargers also made history in relay competition, as the 200 medley relay team of Mia Stockwell, Jasmine Liu, Chantee Nguyen, and Ivy Olivas set a new school record with a time of 1:52.25.
