No. 8 Chargers Set to Host No. 9 Antelope Valley in SoCal Regional Opener
The Chargers play against the Marauders for the third time this season.
CYPRESS, CA - Cypress College Softball (26-14, 13-8 OEC) is ready for postseason play after earning the No. 8 seed in the Southern California Regional bracket. The Chargers will host No. 9 Antelope Valley College in the opening round of the 3C2A playoffs, marking the third meeting between the two programs this season.
Cypress enters the postseason after a strong regular season that saw the Chargers finish third overall in the Orange Empire Conference, competing among one of the top conferences in the state. Their consistent play throughout the spring earned multiple postseason honors, including three First Team All-OEC selections in Isabella Rodriguez, Lynsey Arostigue, and Peyton Clark.
The Chargers have also featured several of the conference's top statistical performers this season. Behind the plate and in the batter's box, Peyton Clark ranked third in the OEC in runs batted in with 42 RBIs, serving as one of the team's most productive offensive threats.
On the basepaths, Laila Nunez ranked second in the conference with 17 stolen bases, while Isabela Guerrero added another dynamic speed element by finishing fifth in the OEC with 12 steals.
Inside the circle, Cypress has been led by Haley Tucker, who finished first in the OEC in both wins with 20 and strikeouts with 134. Mia Alvarez also provided key depth in the pitching staff, ranking fourth in the conference in saves.
The winner of the series will advance to Round 2 on May 8-10.
